Oil on Canvas board, "The Conquerors," by William J. Alyward, a famous American illustrator. The Conquerors was an American merchant ship during World War II. Original gold leaf frame. Alyward studied under Howard Pyle. He illustrated sea stories by Joseph Conrad, Jack London and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne. He was an official war artist of World War I and World War II. 19 1/2 inches x 29 inches.
