Japanese Imari Porcelain Fruit Bowl, c. 1870. Rare red ground with gold phoenix and floral decoration. Unusual foo dog on bottom of inside with turquoise background and blue underglaze. Blue fuku mark underglaze on bottom. The phoenix is the symbol for the Empress. A truly exceptional piece of Japanese porcelain. Perfect condition. 9 3/4 inches wide x 3 3.4 inches high.
