Roman Silver Swan-Handled Spoon, 5th Century, AD. With a curved handle in the shape of a swan's head and neck. Worn through and patched in antiquity. Probably used in a spice box. Reference: Palladium, Auction No. 15, 9-24-1997, page 14, item A75, Wealth of the Roman World, Gold & Silver, AD 300-700, page 124, item 198. A great little piece. Polished on the underside to prove it is silver. A great little piece. 2 5/8 inches.
